Ger + Lizel | A Cinematic Golden Hour Engagement Session

Some sessions you plan. Others you simply feel. Ger and Lizel’s engagement session was the kind that reminds me exactly why I fell in love with photography. The warm last light of the day, two people completely at ease with each other, and a love that needed very little direction to come alive in front of the camera.
With their wedding just around the corner this June, we carved out an evening together to create something cinematic, intimate, and entirely them.
From the moment I connected with Ger and Lizel, it was clear these two are the real thing. They met at work where they work in the field of cinema. Both as a production creative. So can imagine my nerves shooting their session .
When I asked them what they wanted from their engagement session, they didn’t hesitate: something that felt like them. No stiffness, no posing for the sake of posing , just an evening together that they’d remember long after June comes and goes.
When the light turns honey warm and everything it touches looks like it belongs in a film. Central Park was the perfect backdrop for two people who bring that same warmth to every room they walk into.
I always start my sessions with a little movement , a slow walk, a quiet moment side by side because that’s where the real images live. Not in the perfectly arranged pose, but in the laugh that slips out between shots, the way he reaches for her hand without thinking, the glance she gives him when she thinks no one’s watching. Ger and Lizel gave me all of that and more.
The golden hour did what it always does — turned everything soft and cinematic — but honestly, it was the two of them that made every frame.
Ger and Lizel, I cannot wait to stand with you on your wedding day this June. If your engagement session is any indication, it is going to be breathtaking.
To everyone reading ; this is what happens when two people are truly, deeply in love and willing to just be together in front of a camera. The light does the rest.
